You may not realize it, but Chicago has no plans to host a fireworks show on Thursday, July 4th.
According to city officials, this was also the case in previous years.
“Historically, the city has not had fireworks on the Fourth of July,” a city spokesperson told NBC Chicago. “They’ve been held on July 3rd due to the fact that many of the suburbs have fireworks on the Fourth of July.”
On Wednesday, July 3, Navy Pier hosted a fireworks show as part of the summer fireworks series. Every Wednesday at 9:00 PM and every Saturday at 10:00 PM, the sky above the lake was lit up with fireworks.
That means if you missed Wednesday’s show, you’ll have a chance to catch another one on Saturday. You can watch the full show here.
And if you’re willing to venture out into the suburbs, there are plenty of opportunities to see fireworks on Thursday.
