Kendrick Lamar celebrates Independence Day with the music video for his smash-hit Drake diss track, “Not Like Us.” Watch the video, directed by Lamar and his pgLang co-founder Dave Free, below.
The triumphant visual for “Not Like Us” opens with Lamar rapping a snippet from a new song, featuring the line “Keep a horn on me, that Kamasi.” Later, there are cameos from California figures including Tommy the Clown, Compton native and former Toronto Raptors All-Star DeMar DeRozan, producer Mustard (interestingly wearing a Toronto Blue Jays hat) and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith.
Lamar also takes further jabs at Drake and October’s Very Own by smashing an owl piñata and staring at an owl in a cage. Plus, Lamar dances with his partner, Whitney Alford, and their two children. (Drake had questioned Lamar’s family dynamic on diss tracks like “Family Matters.”)
The new video for “Not Like Us” follows Lamar’s Pop Out concert, which took place on Juneteenth in Inglewood, California. Read more in “Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out Concert: A West Coast Reunion and Unforgettable Haters’ Ball” on The Pitch.
