Someone bought Galaxy Buds 3 Pro early, and they sound amazing

Samsung is set to release the biggest update to the Galaxy Buds in years later this month. Now, someone has already gotten their hands on a pair of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and is sharing their initial thoughts.

The Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro have leaked numerous times in recent weeks, with the earbuds trading in Samsung’s “bean” design for something that, for lack of a better comparison, looks almost exactly the same as Apple’s AirPods. That includes stems and an open fit for the base Galaxy Buds 3, but there are also some unique touches, like LED strips embedded into the sides of the earbuds.

Taking to a local Walmart store, Reddit user u/Plastic_Development1 says they picked up a pair of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro for $250. A quick hardware tour we first covered yesterday shows off the new design, as well as the surprising LED strips running down the sides. It’s still not entirely clear what those lights are supposed to do, but a setting in the Galaxy Wearable app lets users change how the lights appear. The lights can apparently at least indicate battery life.

Through a series of comments, the user gives his first impressions of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

That includes a comparison to the AirPods Pro, with ANC and sound quality said to be better on Samsung’s new earbuds, and they’re said to be more comfortable, too. The stem supports swipe and squeeze gestures, with a swipe for volume and a squeeze for things like pausing and skipping tracks. And Multipoint for connecting to multiple devices at once apparently only works with Galaxy devices. The case, while all-plastic, is said to still have a nice hinge and overall hardware.

All in all, it sounds pretty good.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro (and Buds 3) on July 10, along with other new devices.

Reservations for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are now open on, with a $50 pre-order credit and potential savings of up to $1,500. Pre-orders are completely free and don’t obligate you to actually purchase the device. If you sign up, you’ll also be entered into a drawing for a $5,000 Samsung credit.
